About Dark Peak Photo
Founded in 2023, Dark Peak Photo is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to inspire public enjoyment and participation by bringing contemporary photography to new audiences in fresh and unusual ways. We believe in the power of photography as a tool to experience the world anew; to bring together communities, explore underrepresented issues, and to foster dialogue and exchange.
We want to provide opportunities for the local photography community by fostering opportunities to nurture their professional development and strengthen their practice. Keeping them informed of current conversations within the international photography community, supporting their participation in the field.
Our work is locally grounded, co-created with those we serve, and internationally-focused. Look out for more events throughout the year.

Andrew Procter
Assistant Festival Director
Dr Andrew Procter has a life-long involvement with photography. He has pursued this in a mainly amateur capacity having followed a scientific career as a Consultant Psychiatrist with academic positions in the University of London and clinical appointments in the NHS. However, throughout this, he continued to use photography in a documentary form to record and describe his other great interest, outdoor exploration and travel. He has been a member of a number of expeditions, both to mountainous regions and underwater. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and was a member of the National Diving Committee of the British Sub-Aqua club for many years. His work has been published in several outdoor magazines. His current photographic interest combines his professional background and these other interests; he is exploring the interaction between Man and the natural environment – a two way process whereby we affect our environment but it in turn can benefit our mental health.
